6-Day Coffee Roasting Camp

Come learn how to roast coffee, and gain all the skills you need in order to successfully run our own coffee roasting business.

Every roast batch is uniquely different, and a good roaster will be able to create flavor and consistency from a variety of beans. Our certified roasting courses are ideal for those considering a vocation as a coffee roaster and intend on mastering the skills of coffee roasting. 


CAMP SCHEDULE

Day 1 - Introduction to Coffee

We will explore a vast amount of topics of the Specialty Coffee industry and discover where do the thousands of flavors found in various coffees come from. This will establish the groundwork for all that is needed to be known for any coffee professional.

Day 2 - Sensory Skills Foundations SCA certificate course

Enables the student to recognize the core concepts of sensory analysis and explain how and why professionals use it in the coffee industry. The primary focus is describing and discriminating aroma, taste, and body in coffees. Students are introduced to the SCA cupping protocol and focus on the qualitative dimension of coffee. 

Day 3-6 - Roasting Skills Combo Foundations/Intermediate SCA certificate course

The Combo Class is open for everyone from beginner to seasoned veteran.  It covers the curriculum the Foundation and Intermediate Levels in order to give you a thorough experience and empowers you wherever you are in the coffee supply chain.  

We will introduce core roasting skills and equipment to people with no previous roasting experience. The student will be able to describe the various stages of roasting using all terminology from the keyword list below.
We will then move into more advanced theory and curriculum as we delve into the intermediate level course work. This course will provide a more detailed understanding of the roasting process and the different kinds of heat transfer at work.

Lunch will be provided each day.
